What driver version have you loaded? Is this a new system or did this 5200
replace another video card like the 9200? Could be leftovers from the 9200?
Maybe you need to format and reload to clear it.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner. I'm embarrased that I did not think of
that. If the model number is "SP8834T", then it only has the 64 bit memory.
Bummer. I'm pro Nvidia all the way but they never should have allowed this
64 bit thing to be sold. Too many people will be fooled by this.

Sounds to me like you got a 64bit memory bus version of the FX
5200. The reduced bandwidth makes it perform more like a GF4 MX 420.
In your BIOS, do you have your AGP set to 4X, or 8X?

hi!

my config:

amd 2,4ghz
gf 5200 fx (sparkle)
winXP
directx 9.0

on 3dmark2001 i get only about 3500 points. according to online
benchmark tests this configuration should reach more than 7000 points.

when i run the benchmark with an ati 9100 on the same pc i get more than
8000 points (ie the nearly the result of the online benchmark (eg
tomshardware.com) => the rest of the pc must be ok)

there is no hardware/driver conflict
i tried several settings in the bios (optimized, default,...)

has anyone an idea whats wrong with my graphics card?

many thx in advance

Definately something wrong here and the first thing I would look at is your
power supply. What rating is the power supply. I think it is running out of
power when pulling intensive graphics. Another thing to look at is your
motherboard...do you have updated chipset drivers?

Unfortunatly. Alot of ppl have problably fell into that trap.
I've found that most PC shops, and Dept. stores carry the lower
performing equipment as opposed to the "full deal". There is a PC shop
here that has a US Robitics 9600 External Fax/Modem for the price of
$139.00. Wha! :O The box looks faded. Asked them if they had a GF4 in
stock, he pulls out the grand ol GF4 MX420 for a $129.00. Ok sir.
Thanks anyway.
Walmart has the FX5200, but it is the 64bit version, and they
want like $89.00, or so for it. Before buying from anyone, I'd do alot
research on the item. I always ask the vendor what's the exact model
#, and I always ask them if I get something different than what I
asked for, if I can get it exchanged for what I requested with no
extra cost, or a full refund if they don't have what I wanted. If they
tell me no, then I tell them goodbye.

Not nVidia's fault. The fault of the a#$hole 3rd-party companies
who build the cards. The 64-bit version is cheaper to build than the
128-bit version and the card manufacturers DELIBERATELY
omit the memory bandwidth from the so-called "Specs" printed
on the retail boxes.

The 128-bit version of the non-ultra FX5200 always has 2 banks
of 4 memory parts, so if you can arrange with the vendor to physically
inspect the card before purchase you can avoid the problem.

I was aware of this issue and went through this horrible gyration
BEFORE buying a FX5200 for one of my PCs.
